“An unjust law is no law at all.”

A drama based on the true story of Melvin Tolson, a professor at Wiley College, a Historically Black College in Marshall, Texas. In 1935, during the Great Depression, Tolson inspired students to form the school’s first debate team, which went on to challenge Harvard University in the National Championships.

This uplifting film—winner of 4 NAACP Image Awards—is directed by Denzel Washington, who stars as Tolson. The stellar cast also includes Forest Whitaker, Kimberly Elise, Nate Parker, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Denzel Whitaker, Jermaine Williams, Gina Ravera, and John Heard.

“Affirming and inspiring…The 9th best film of 2007” – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

“Held together…by another riveting performance from Washington” – Jack Mathews, New York Daily News
