About the Havre de Grace Arts Collective and the Cultural Center at the Opera House
Eighteenth century building becomes a 21st century state-of the-art performing arts venue due to the dedicated efforts of the community! The Havre de Grace Arts Collective is pleased to announce the ribbon cutting for the Cultural Center at the Opera House, a 203-seat performing arts venue located in Havre de Grace, on Saturday, August 5th at 1pm.
The newly restored Opera House will bring the highest quality entertainment to the community and the region. The historic theater will be used for local and professional plays, live music and arts performances, dance, film, arts education, youth programming, local events, private receptions and gatherings. It will embody the community’s commitment to the arts, the preservation of its history and access to a state-of-the-art facility accessible to all.
The Havre de Grace Arts Collective, a newly formed 501(c)(3) organization created to address the cultural and economic needs of Havre de Grace and the surrounding region, has several goals. First, to bring regional and national high caliber performances to the Cultural Center at the Opera House that engage and attract audiences. Second, to further develop the Arts and Entertainment (A&E) District program of the State of Maryland attracting artists to live, work and play in Havre de Grace. Third, to enhance the arts by serving as the umbrella organization for the Arts by The Bay Gallery, serving as a cooperative gallery and offering educational opportunities which nurture learning and creativity.
